Our Activities
We provide a number of resources to our members and to others interested in storytelling and storytellers.
Stories at Fern
Stories at Fern is a gathering—open to all. We share stories. We welcome new members.
We meet on the third Monday of every month at 7:15 p.m., September through May at 1831 Fern Street. (In December and June, we meet on the second Monday.)
Tell Me a Story
Our newsletter, Tell Me a Story, includes musings; book reviews; news about storytelling from home and abroad; and a calendar of upcoming events.
You can view recent copies of Tell Me a Story in PDF format.
The Root Cellar
The Root Cellar is our library of journals, books, articles, audio and video cassettes dealing with the art of storytelling. These are available to our members as a resource to improve their craft.
Storytellers' Listserv
The Vancouver Island Storytellers' E-Mail Tree listserv, created and moderated by Victoria Storytellers' Guild member Deidre A. Hill - Writer, Storyteller, distributes messages of interest to storytellers and storytelling groups around Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
If you would like to receive these occasional messages, please send a request to with your full name and the town you live in, and she will gladly add your e-mail address to the list. She also welcomes, and is happy to post, any storytelling announcements that may be of interest to this listserv.
Performing Tellers
We maintain, as a public service, a directory of storytellers who are available to tell in the community.
