Events in March

Friday, March 16th In Duncan, Victoria tellers join storytellers from “upisland” and our next storytelling there is on  at 2:30 – 4:30 pm for stories on an Irish theme. No registration is required and admittance is free.  Tea and cookies provided!

Saturday, March 17th, in Helmcken House (next to the museum) we do two sets of an hour each – 2 – 3 and 3 – 4 of stories on the theme of the month for the museum, which happens to be animals in/from nature.  Jennifer Ferris and Lee Porteous will be doing the stories this month (perhaps one more recruit).  No registration is required and admission is free.

Monday, March 19th is our regular storytelling evening at the Quakers’ Hall, 1831 Fern St. at 7:30.  This month is special because the 20th, the first day of spring, is World Storytelling Day, so around this date, groups all over the world take part in telling and listening to stories on a theme.  This year it is “Wise Fools”.Admittance is $5.00 at the door – includes tea and cookies!

Monday, March 26th at 7:30 at the Quakers’ Hall, 1831 Fern St. is a special concert of Stories From Scotland (Oatcakes and Heartaches), performed by a storytelling duo from Ottawa – we are able to host them because they are out here for concerts in Parksville and Nanaimo.  They have performed this story set at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa.
